2008 Lab residency

Nell Breyer, Alissa Cardone, Lorraine Chapman & Bronwen McCarthur – Disappearing Woman

October 17-26, 2008
Co-hosted by Marlboro College
and Vermont Performance Lab

Independent ChoreographersComing out of the 2007 NEFA Regional Dance Lab, four New England based choreographers, Nell Breyer, Alissa Cardone, Lorraine Chapman and Bronwen MacArthur are working on a unique collaboration to create a new work, "The story of my father's eyes," a dance from three points of view. The work weaves dynamic layers of video and media into movement, sound and voice. The performance explores the body as a gate.

The project is a collaboration by four artists: Nell Breyer, Alissa Cardone, Lorraine Chapman and Bronwen MacArthur; who were invited participants in the 2007 New England Foundation for the Arts Regional Dance Development Initiative. It is significant because the piece is a natural extension of artistic exchanges that began during the RDDI Lab, exploring crossover between each artist's individual movement language, media and aesthetics. In addition, it will be a new performance work within the "Three Women Solo" Series that has been commissioned by Concord Summer Stages.

During the Vermont residency the four artists will be focusing on the creative collaboration of movement, sound and video ideas. The visiting artists will also offer masterclasses, a workshop on video and dance, participate in a panel discussion on collaboration, offer feedback on student choreograpraphy projects and present two evenings of informal showings of the new work-in-progress.
